Processor

Think of the processor as your computerâ?™s brain, where it decides how to accomplish the things you ask it to do, like find files you need, calculate spreadsheet cells, play movies—virtually anything you need done. Owning a Toshiba notebook with a dual-core processor is like having a computer with two brains—one that can do two or more things at the same time.

RAM

Random Access Memory. This is like your computerâ?™s work space, where it keeps many of the things youâ?™ve aske it to do—run a word processing program and create a document, keep your calendar open, work on an email —anything. Bigger files and more complicated programs take up more RAM. So having plenty of RAM means programs usually run smoother.
